Cuisine American
- 1 cup fine salt I like the Azure Velvet Himalayan
- 1/2 cup cream of tartar
- 4 tsp magnesium glycinate powder
- 1/4 cup sugar option, see notes
To Use
Stir 1 teaspoon into 8-16 ounces of water or your favorite drink.
For extremely hot days or prolonged outdoor work, adjust the amount to taste and according to your hydration needs.
A small amount of glucose or sugar can improve sodium absorption in the small intestine through a natural transport system. This is the same principle used in oral rehydration solutions and many commercial sports drinks.
However, because I usually stir my electrolyte powder into homemade water kefir, there's already a small amount of natural sugar remaining after fermentation, so I don't find it necessary to add additional sugar.
